Bled, Slovenia
As expected, my holiday ended this morning.
A message from Clovis arrived just after breakfast.
It contained precisely one destination and one dimension code.
Salzburg. BYP87PE.
No explanation.
Experience has taught me that asking for one is usually a waste of everyone's time.
I packed my suitcase, returned the room key, thanked The Park for an unexpectedly peaceful week, and activated the Brama one last time.
People often ask how interdimensional travel actually works.
The answer is simpler than most imagine.
The Brama doesn't throw you into random places. First, you select the destination dimension using its unique code. It then attempts to place you at the same—or as close as safely possible—physical location in that world. If your exact position happens to be inside a mountain, underwater, or in someone's living room, it quietly selects the nearest safe alternative instead.
This morning my hotel overlooked one of The Park's lakes.
A few seconds later I was standing beside another beautiful lake.
Different Earth.
Different dimension.
Same general location.
So now I'm in Bled, Slovenia.
Rather fitting, really.
I've decided not to rush. Salzburg isn't far, and cryptic messages rarely become less cryptic by arriving an hour earlier.
